Lamai Beach in Koh Samui is a slice of paradise that offers the perfect blend of relaxation and excitement, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking a laid-back yet engaging experience. With its long stretch of soft, golden sand framed by turquoise waters and swaying palm trees, Lamai Beach is quieter than its bustling neighbor, Chaweng Beach, yet still offers plenty to do.
Our stay at Lamai Beach was made even more special by our charming Airbnb cottage, which sat right on the sand. Waking up to the sound of waves each morning was incredible, but the true highlight was the outdoor shower that allowed us to rinse off while enjoying the warm island breeze. Every morning, we were greeted by a delightful older woman who prepared the most delicious breakfast for us. Her warmth and hospitality were by far the best part of our stay, making our mornings on Lamai Beach truly unforgettable.
Beyond our cozy cottage, Lamai Beach offers plenty of activities. We spent time exploring the vibrant Lamai Night Market, where we browsed through stalls selling everything from local crafts to street food. The market has a lively atmosphere, especially on Sundays, with music, performances, and a variety of delicious eats to choose from. It’s a great place to pick up souvenirs or simply enjoy the local culture.
For adventure lovers, Lamai Beach is perfect for water sports. We decided to rent a wave runner and had an absolute blast zipping across the clear waters .. until the power steering went out but don’t worry we wabbled our way back haha The beach is also ideal for swimming, especially in the southern part where the water is calm and inviting.
Lamai Beach strikes a wonderful balance between tranquil days and lively nights. Whether you’re lounging by the sea, shopping at the night market, or enjoying a thrilling water sport, there’s something here for everyone. And with the added bonus of a charming stay in a beachfront cottage, it’s no wonder Lamai Beach holds such a special place in our hearts.
